Daufuskie Island Melrose
Founded in 1985, this 730-acre community serves as home to the Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa. The resort consists of an oceanfront 52-room inn, 37 guest cottages and more than 21,000 square feet of meeting space at the Island House Conference Center. Melrose also offers an outstanding package of amenities that include an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Championship golf course, an equestrian center, croquet lawn, eight tennis courts lighted for night play, three swimming pools (one heated), an ocean front hot tub and a fitness center. There are 3 separate dining facilities at the resort: the formal Stoddard Room at the Inn which overlooks the croquet lawn and Atlantic Ocean, Jack's Place at the golf complex, and the Beach Club, featuring expansive views of Calibogue Sound.
There are more than 50 finished homes within Melrose on approximately 350 home sites, with a variety of views ranging from oceanfront to golf and wooded views. Within the Melrose community is the unique Driftwood neighborhod, which features its own style of colorful ocean front and ocean oriented beach cottages.
